Hatcher has developed many new milestones over the past few weeks & it's so much fun watching him grow & learn new things. On Friday, January 25th he rolled over for the first time! He doesn't do it often because honestly he doesn't like the end result of being on his belly but it's fun to see him work so hard to do it. He's playing in his jump-a-roo now & LOVES it! He could bounce in there for hours!! His favorite is when Johny & I jump around in front of him; he just laughs & bounces even higher! Too funny! He still loves bath time & absolutely loves being naked & looking at himself in the mirror. Johny 's parents say he always preferred being naked so maybe it's a boy thing! He's starting to recognize Dooley & watches him intently. He loves for Dooley to give him kisses & he likes for us to help him "pet" Dooley too! I hope the love between them continues as Hatch gets older. Dooley has no idea what he's in for when he's pulling his ears & climbing all over him! He still loves the Mama Roo and takes at least one nap in there every day & he still loves to lay on his play mats & look up at all his toys! He enjoys being read too & we enjoy reading to him. He's starting to teeth & wants to put everything in his mouth! And he's quite the little talker!! No idea where he got that from! :)
We tried him on oatmeal cereal on Saturday, January 26th. He wasn't quite sure about it & didn't really seem interested. We tried it three different times and he still didn't seem ready. So we decided to wait another week & see if there was any change. So we're going to give it another shot this weekend & see how it goes. Our pediatrician said we could wait until he was 6 months old to start solids since he was growing just fine on mommy's milk but we felt he was ready and that starting solids might help us start stretching him to 3.5-4 hours in between feedings. He stares us down while we're eating & watches us take every bite so I feel like he's saying "hey people, I want some!" So we shall see!
I'm so glad I've stuck with breast feeding. It wasn't super easy for me in the beginning & we had a difficult time getting Hatcher to get a good latch but we stuck it out & I'm so glad we did! When I see those chunky little leg rolls, it makes every feeding totally worth while!! It's amazing that as mommies we're able to provide our child with the nutrition they need! I know eventually we'll start using formula but for now I'm enjoying the free milk I'm producing!!
Since I'm staying at home with our sweet boy, I have decided to make his baby food. It's been so much fun! I got the Baby Bullet & Steamer as shower gifts & they're so great & easy to use. So far, I've made him sweet potatoes, carrots, avocados, apples & pears. They're frozen & ready to go when he's ready to start eating them!
Since Hatcher started rolling over & is becoming stronger & more active we decided it was time to wean him from the swaddle. Yikes!! He loved being swaddled but was starting to break out of it every night & that made me nervous. So we started with one arm in & one arm out & he did great. After 3 nights, we started keeping both arms out & only swaddling his body. It's been a rough week but he's starting to get the hang of it. Once he's sleeping through the night, we're going to move him into his crib. Sad day for this mommy as I love having him right beside me but I know we will all sleep better when he's in his own bed. Gonna be a tough night for mommy & daddy & I'm sure we won't sleep a wink for staring at the video monitor!
We continue to fall in love with this sweet child every single day! He's so laid back, happy & silly & he makes us laugh every day! He's the best & I cannot thank God enough for bringing him into our lives! We're having a great new year so far & hope all of you are too! :)
